I think it went something like this…

I went off to college with aspirations of obtaining a degree in some type of engineering/architecture, but when I got there, I became disenchanted with all of the rules and rigidity associated with these fields.

Throughout highschool and college, I was an avid guitar player. I was in a rock band that was making absolutely no money and we were forced to embrace the DIY ethic tied to punk rock ideology. After scraping together the money to record a demo, my drummer (a graphic design student at another local university) showed the artwork for the demo to myself and other bandmates that he had created on his old Macintosh. I have been hooked (maybe "obsessed" is a better word) ever since. I had discovered a field that actually gives you rules that are open to interpretation and are intended to be bent (and sometimes broken).

"Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it has proven itself to be my great ally."

I proceeded to pursue a BA in graphic design and dedicated myself to becoming the best print designer I could be. Unfortunately, it happened again. I became bored and began searching for my next endeavor. My natural urge to tinker with things as well as my curiosity began to take over. How was the internet built? How do you get the art from your hard drive to a place where all the world can see it? I cracked open a book on HTML one day and I haven't stopped tinkering since.

  • Currently

With the debate about the future of Flash on the web raging throughout internet discussion boards and forums, I am currently focused on learning jQuery as a means to use more HTML-based content in place of traditional Flash objects.

I am also currently focused on the use of WordPress as a CMS in addition to its more traditional blogging capabilities. I have been very impressed with its versatility to this point and thoroughly enjoy working within this framework. As a matter of fact, this very website is built on the WordPress platform.

  • Always

I constantly strive to build websites to the highest standard that the project scope allows; whether it be, writing leaner code, presenting myself with a personal design challenge, or implementing a new technology.

Three things you may not know about me

Growing up, I was accident prone

I was no stranger to the hospital or doctors' offices in my youth. By age 5, I had been to the hospital for a tricycle mishap. At age 6, I suffered a broken elbow and a serious case of poison ivy gone awry. At age 15, I broke my collarbone. It never quite healed perfectly, and my left shoulder still looks a little odd to this day.

Finding a new beer I like excites me

So many different ideas and flavors, all under this umbrella we have deemed “Craft Beer.” Is there any better feeling than when you order that new stout with your meal and it’s so good, you just have to take some home with you? I don’t think so. I especially enjoy sampling beers from the Baltimore-area breweries.

I love star wars…and tattoos

When I was young, the first movie my family watched on our new VCR was Star Wars. In all my years of watching movies, I have yet to find another that I like as much. In recent years, I have coupled my love of Star Wars with my love of tattoos and have begun a Star Wars themed sleeve on my left arm.
